The Cambridge City Conservatives launched their local election campaign for 2nd May with an Action Day in King’s Hedges and published their Manifesto 2024.
Activists from across Cambridgeshire were led by Anthony Browne, MP for South Cambridgeshire, and Darryl Preston, the Cambridgeshire Police & Crime Commissioner.
Unveiling their first local manifesto since 2010, candidates standing for the Cambridge City Conservatives have joined Councillor Delowar Hossain in making six pledges to Cambridge voters to:
- Protect Our Motorists
- Improve Public Transport
- Tackle Anti-Social Behaviour
- Build a Greener, More Affordable City
- Support Families & Local Businesses
- Stand Up for Local Democracy
The manifesto outlines a different vision for Cambridge City that Conservative candidates will act on should they be elected on the 2nd May. Electing a Conservative in King’s Hedges helped stop the Congestion Charge from going ahead. Voting for more Conservatives to become Councillors can bring more change to the City Council.
Councillor Delowar Hossain has commented:
“I am very proud to put forward the Cambridge City Conservatives Manifesto. It is a plan for a different Cambridge. Labour and the Liberal Democrats stopped listening to local people years ago. Residents have an opportunity to tell them to wake up and get real change. Make sure you vote Conservative on the 2nd May for a better Cambridge.”
Conservative candidate Nazrul Islam has commented:
“Residents in King’s Hedges and across Cambridge have been taken for granted by Labour and the Liberal Democrats. The City Council is punishing hardworking people with their plans for road charging, council rent hikes, and council tax rises. Enough is enough. Conservatives like me want to run things differently so residents are respected and listened to.”
Conservative candidate Mo Pantell has commented:
“It’s clear that Labour and the Liberal Democrats want to bring back their Congestion Charge proposals under the banner of ‘road charging’. Instead of improving roads and public transport in places like Cherry Hinton, the Greater Cambridge Partnership and City Council want a second stab at making a cash grab. Vote Conservative to show that is simply unacceptable.”
