With every passing day debates on the Congestion Charge, and the recent applying closure of the Mill Road bridge, highlight the obviously political nature of these issues. Yesterday, all 8 Lib Dem and Labour councillors voted to close the bridge while all 7 Conservatives voted to keep it open. While Lib Dems and Labour have fought to bring in the Congestion Charge, the Conservatives have fought to oppose it. In May, the people of Cambridge get to have their say on whether they want this farce to continue or to unleash a political earthquake that will send a message to those in power.
We are delighted to announce that the Conservatives will be contesting all city wards and the East Chesterton by-election in May. Every one has committed to oppose the Congestion Charge and the havoc it will wreak on local people and businesses. Your candidates are:
- Mohammed Azamuddin - Romsey
- Rhona Boorman - Castle
- Robert Boorman - Arbury
- Gordon Gregory - Queen Ediths
- Mike Harford - West Chesterton
- Zachary Marsh - Cherry Hinton
- Shapour Meftah - Trumpington
- Robin Nelson - Coleridge
- Frank Ribeiro - East Chesterton
- Paul Roper - Petersfield
- David Smith - Abbey
- Jean-Anne Bartlett - Market
- Susie Williams - Newnham
- Mohamed Delowar Hossain - Kings Hedges
We know many people in our city want to send a message in May. We are the only party who you can back to stop these ridiculous proposals. If you want to help the Conservatives to do just that and support our campaign to stop the Congestion Charge please contact us.
