Following a personal invitation from our PPC, Chamali Fernando, and as part of a tour of the East region of England, the Prime Minister recently made a visit to Cambridge. David Cameron announced £4.8million of Government Funding for Trinity College’s Sir John Bradfield Centre which will support Cambridge City’s small high-tech businesses and create 160 new jobs. Great News For Cyclists

The Transport Minister Robert Goodwill MP visited Cambridge today (Thurs 29 Jan) to officially begin the works on the city station’s new £2.5million CyclePoint, funded through the CB1 development led by Brookgate and Network Rail with support from the Department for Transport and Cambridgeshire County Council.  Chamali Fernando, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Cambridge said “CyclePoint will significantly improve cycle parking for rail passengers using Cambridge station, which is one of the busiest stations in the country, in the cycling capital of England.” Continue reading

Conservatives slam Huppert over A14 claims

Cambridge Conservatives today slammed Lib Dem MP Julian Huppert for being ‘out of touch’ with Cambridge’s motorists after he criticized the Government for having spent £37 million on researching the much-needed upgrade of the A14. The scheme was cancelled in October 2010 after a long campaign of opposition by local Lib Dems including Mr Huppert. Continue reading
