Former Parliamentary Candidate

Nick Hillman

Nick Hillman was chosen as Cambridge’s Conservative Candidate last December at a public meeting open to all local voters. He has a long association with Cambridge and lives within the city, just off the Newmarket Road. He was a postgraduate student in Christ’s College and trained as a teacher in local schools, including Hills Road Sixth Form College.

Nick secured a solid result in the 2010 general election, moving the Conservatives from third to second place and achieving the first increase in Conservative share of vote in Cambridge since 1976. The Conservatives now have a strong voice in Cambridge politics as a result.

Since the election he has been appointed Special Adviser to David Willetts, Minister of State for Universities and Science. Nick has worked with David Willetts for many years and was instrumental in defining Conservative policy on universities and skills while in opposition.
